Reliable Appointment Planning

Timing Matters for Medical Transportation

Medical appointments often require early arrival, registration, check-in, or additional time to reach the correct department. Transportation should be planned around more than the appointment time alone.

Return timing may also be uncertain after procedures, testing, or appointments that run longer than expected. Every reservation is coordinated based on the known details available in advance.

Confirm the Exact Appointment Time Include the check-in time when it differs from the scheduled appointment time.
Provide the Correct Facility Location Large medical campuses may have multiple entrances, departments, and buildings.
Discuss Mobility Before Booking Share any equipment, walking assistance, or vehicle-entry concerns before transportation is confirmed.
Plan for Appointment Delays Medical appointments and procedures may take longer than originally expected.

Read the Medical Guide
Is this an ambulance or emergency transportation service?

No. Amelia Island Transportation provides scheduled, non-emergency transportation only. Call 911 for emergencies.

Do your vehicles have wheelchair lifts?

No. Our vehicles do not have wheelchair lifts. Folding mobility equipment may be accommodated when space allows, but passengers must be able to enter and exit the vehicle safely.

Can a family member or caregiver ride with the passenger?

Yes. Include every passenger when requesting transportation so the appropriate vehicle and capacity can be reviewed.

Can you transport someone after an outpatient procedure?

Potentially, when the passenger meets the facility’s discharge requirements and has any required medical escort or responsible adult. We do not provide medical supervision.

Does the driver wait during the appointment?

Every reservation is different. We typically coordinate pickup times rather than advertising a driver-waiting service.

What happens if the appointment runs late?

Contact us as soon as possible. We will make reasonable efforts to adjust the return pickup based on driver and vehicle availability.

Can you provide recurring appointment transportation?

Recurring transportation may be available depending on dates, times, locations, and the existing schedule.

How early should medical transportation be reserved?

Reserve as early as possible, especially for early appointments, Jacksonville destinations, procedures, and recurring visits.
